It’s funny…I read the article BEFORE reading who wrote it.

Perceptive is so freaking important.

When I first read it, my gut was a response something like:

Most employees suck, which would simply lead into people’s inclination to “suck” (or go against however we decide they should have behaved instead of the way they did).

Since many believe that everyone should operate as we see fit or in a way that keeps our emotions regulated.

And then I saw it was Sharran.

Leadership is setting your humanity and emotions aside to allow for others to grow through theirs.

It requires an insane amount of self-awareness and reflection. A starts with me attitude, vs an inflexible “here’s the job - do it” one.

But culture has so much to do with it, and a lot of people accept working for cultures that they don’t connect with from a value set.

So a boss that sucks to one is awesome for another.

Some people like being told what to do and given very specific order vs some want free thought and autonomy.

It’s a topic that is truly determined by the two humans connected in “boss”-employee relationship.

An interesting take. Thanks!

I am shocked Sharran, you are now also a "f-word" machine-gun? Is this really the "new you"? You can do better than this, can't you?

Thank you for the comment. I hope you got more than the f-word from what took me hours to write an organize for you in this post. I was trying to express emotion and feeling and it's hard to do it on text without a little punch and way easier to do on video as I have voice, tone, volume and body language. That said, I generally don't curse. It's not my style.

I thank you for your wisdom, and I know I can learn so much from these short lessons. I'm a hard worker, but getting off to a great start has been difficult. I'm not giving up, but I do get discouraged by my slow progress.

Dang. I think I just read your best message ever. Sharran, you are an incredibly inspiring leader for ALL the right reasons- integrity, values, human potential. I read so much more than I comment, but couldn't help myself this time. I needed this.

I wish you all the best in your new endeavor!! Laura
